COMEDIAN and broadcaster Mike Osman is launching a new DAB radio station with backing from millionaire plumber Charlie Mullins.

The Southampton comic is behind Great British Radio, which is set to offer listeners an eclectic mix of popular music and interviews, combined with a strong emphasis on humour and positivity.

Osman has formidable experience as a broadcaster and entertainer, having previously hosted the breakfast show on Capital Gold in a prime slot that he inherited from Tony Blackburn.

He later co-presented a show with Chris Tarrant on Smooth FM and more recently has attracted huge audiences on TikTok for his hilarious impressions of Donald Trump.

The new station will break with convention by refusing to carry any scheduled news bulletins. "We want to make listeners laugh every ten minutes, so for us no news is good news," explains Osman. "Everybody that I talk to says they are exhausted by 24/7 news. It's time for something different."

Charlie Mullins, the founder and former owner of Pimlico Plumbers, has provided financial backing and will be chairman of the new station.

The station's team includes individuals from Osman's time at Capital and celebrity interviewers, including actor Sam Kane, presenter Linda Lusardi, actress Vicki Michelle, comedian Richard Digance, and radio host Kevin King.

Great British Radio will launch on DAB+ on Monday. The station will also be available via radio player at greatbritishradio.org or by downloading the app.
