A SOUTHAMPTON school has earned a special award for its efforts to keep pupils safe online.

After successfully completing a comprehensive online safety training programme, Oakfield Primary School has received a National Online Safety Certified School Accreditation.

National Online Safety is a digital training provider with extensive resources on online safety. It was developed in line with the Department of Education’s statutory requirements.

Its resources assist schools in teaching the school community, including all senior leaders, teachers, all school workers, and parents, how to make the internet a safer place for children.

Mr Mitton, the headteacher at Oakfield, said: "We are proud to have been recognised for the second year in a row. The internet is a fantastic tool that many of us rely on every day. By supporting our community to identify and take action together, we have not only raised awareness of harm but identified how important it is to become responsible online citizens through positive choices and kindness."
