A HAMPSHIRE school has been given permission to continue using three portable buildings as classrooms.

New Forest District Council has approved an application relating to Fairways School in Junction Road, Totton, which caters for children with autism and disabilities.

A council report said: "These three portacabins were the subject of a temporary permission in 2018 and are used by the school as teaching spaces.

"Two of the three portacabins have now been in place since 2016 and one since 2018 without detriment to the character of the surrounding area.

"The cabins appear to be maintained in a clean and tidy state and are in a good state of repair.

"The proposal does not represent an intensification of the use of the site, nor will there be any increase in pupils, staff or associated vehicular movements.

"The proposed development would support the provision of education, health, social and other community services in the settlement."
