FOUR people have been rescued after a boat got stuck in mud near a New Forest town.

Lymington Lifeboat and Hillhead Coastguard Rescue Team were called to an incident involving four people stuck in mud in Lymington.

Their rigid inflatable boat had become stuck in the mud and they were unable to move.

It was decided that the best option was to rescue them from the sea.

All four casualties were brought to safety by the Lymington Lifeboat crew during the incident on April 16.

A spokesperson from Hillhead Coastguard Rescue Team said: "Tasked to four persons stuck on the mud in a RHIB in Lymington with Lymington CRT.

"Once officers assessed location it was decided the best option was to access from sea.

"All casualties rescued safely by Lymington Lifeboat."
