THESE defendants from the Southampton area have all been handed their punishment this month at courts in Hampshire.

From drug dealing to violence on the streets of the city, judges and magistrates have weighed up their crimes against their mitigation and dished out a sentence.

Louis George Irving

He was stopped by police after his vehicle was spotted “weaving” in the road.

But officers then found cannabis stuffed in the 29-year-old’s washing machine at his home address in Leighton Road.

He was sentenced for two charges of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class B. He was also sentenced for a charge of possession with intent to supply a class A drug, and possession of criminal property.

A judge handed him four years and nine months behind bars.

Tegan Bulley

The Southampton 29-year-old mum was handed a suspended sentence after leading police on a 90mph chase.

She had two children in the back of her BMW. Neither child was strapped in.

A judge handed her an eight-month sentence but suspended it for 15 months after hearing a controlling man had ordered her to keep driving.

She was disqualified from driving for a year.

Ricky Goodman and Rory Marshall

These two men assaulted a University of Southampton lecturer, Dr Peng Wang.

Goodman was convicted of racially-aggravated assault causing actual bodily harm and Marshall was found guilty of assault causing actual bodily harm.

John Nicholson

Nicholson, 55, went to Imperial Avenue on February 15 to take a photo of his partner's ex's car.

He ended up punching him repeatedly shouting "sign the divorce papers".

Nicholson, a self-employed mechanic, now of Moot Lane, Downton near Salisbury in Wiltshire, now has a new partner.

He admitted wounding and was handed a nine-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months.

Kaya Evans

The 28-year-old, of no fixed address, appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates Court yesterday, charged with nine counts of theft from a shop and one count of criminal damage.

The 28-year-old had stolen items worth hundreds of pounds from shops across Havant and Hedge End.

Liam Farrell

Prolific offender Liam Farrell was jailed for two years after headbutting a fellow resident at Patrick House and causing one of the employees to fear for her safety.

Farrell, 37, apologised to the court for his behaviour, saying he was drunk at the time.

He has 67 convictions for 145 offences.

Michael Roy Stimson

Michael Stimson, 39, of Ladycross Road, Hythe, was jailed for a total of 12 weeks and was ordered to pay compensation of £50.

He was jailed by Portsmouth magistrates for the reckless assault of an emergency worker.
