A HAMPSHIRE early years setting has been praised by watchdogs following a recent inspection.

Buttercups Early Years Centre on Long Lane in Bursledon has been rated 'good' by Ofsted.

The inspection was carried out on March 9 and three out of four categories were rated 'good'.

One category - behaviours and attitudes - was rated 'outstanding'.

The inspection found that children demonstrate that they feel safe in the staff's care.

Children learn about the local community as they walk to the forest-school site each day.

Staff understand how to support children's learning through a diverse range of opportunities and experiences.

Children develop a good range of physical skills and staff support children's developing language skills well.

Inspectors noted that parents comment very positively about the care and support staff provide to their children at the setting.

Additional funding is thoughtfully used to support all children to have the same experiences and opportunities.
