THE Southampton Marathon is making its much-anticipated return this weekend.

But as always, the popular event on Sunday will also see road closures across the city as thousands of runners pound the streets.

Letters have been sent to residents in individual neighbourhoods and plenty of time has been given for them to prepare and plan.

However, we have rounded up the full list of closures for everyone to see:

Southampton City Centre

Above Bar Street and surrounding roads will include road closures from Saturday April 23 to Sunday April 24, there will be very limited access to these areas.

The Itchen Bridge will also be closed between 8am and 2pm on Sunday.

The following closures will be in place between 7am and 4pm:

  • London Road over its full length.
  • A3024 Cumberland Place from its junction with Bedford Place to its junction with London Road.
  • A3024 Brunswick Place over its full length.

And these will be in place between 9.30am and 12noon:

  • New Road from its junction with Palmerston Road to its junction with A33 St. Andrews Road.
  • East Park Terrace over its full length.

Portswood

Between 8am and 3pm: 

  • A3035 Cobden Avenue from its junction with St Catherine’s Road to its junction with Priory Road.
  • Woodmill Lane from its junction with Manor Farm Road to its junction with Portswood Road.
  • Portswood Road from its junction with Woodmill Lane to its junction with Harefield Road.
  • High Road from its junction with Woodmill Lane to its junction with A35 Burgess Road.
  • Longhorn Road Lane from its junction with Portswood Road to its junction with A35 Burgess Road.
  • University Road over its full length.
  • Church Lane over its full length.
  • A3035 Highfield Road from its junction with Church Lane to its junction with Heatherdeane Road.
  • Heatherdeane Road from its junction with A3035 Highfield Lane to its junction with Khartoum Road.
  • Khartoum Road over its full length.
  • Highfield Road from its junction with Omdurman Road to its junction with Khartoum Road.

Woolston

Between 8am and 2pm: 

  • Cooper’s Lane over its full length.
  • Portsmouth Road from its junction with A3025 Portsmouth Road to its junction with Woodley Road.
  • Victoria Road over its full length.
  • Woodley Road over its full length.
  • Keswick Road over its full length.
  • John Thornycroft Road over its full length.
  • Oswald Road over its full length.
  • Vosper Road over its full length.
  • Weston Lane over its full length.
  • Rothschild Close from its junction with Weston Road to its junction with Jurds Lake Way.
  • Jurds Lake Way over its full length.

Bitterne

Between 8am and 2pm:

  • A3024 Northam Road over its full length in an Easterly direction. 
  • A3024 Bitterne Road West from its merging with A3024 Northam Bridge to its junction with A3035 Bullar Road in an Easterly direction.

Between 8am and 3pm: 

  • Macnaghten Road from its junction with A3035 Bullar Road to its junction with Whitworth Road.
  • Whitworth Road over its full length.
  • A3035 Cobden Avenue from its junction with St. Catherine’s Road to its junction with Priory Road.
  • Woodmill Lane from its junction with Manor Farm Road to its junction with Portswood Road.
  • Portswood Road from its junction with Woodmill Lane to its junction with Harefield Road.
