A HAMPSHIRE motorway was closed after a man with potentially life-threatening injuries was found on the carriageway.
The M3 near Farnborough and Fleet was shut in both directions following an incident that began just before 10.30am on Sunday.
A police spokesman said: "We were called out following reports of concern for welfare on the M3 Junction 4A Southbound.

"A man was found on the carriageway in a live lane of traffic with potentially life-threatening injuries. He was taken to St. George’s Hospital via air ambulance."
The spokesman said police were working to establish the exact circumstances of the incident.
Shortly after it began National Highways tweeted: “M3 closed in both directions within J4A #Minley (#A327 #Farnborough #Fleet #A3013) in #Hampshire due to a @HantsPolRoads police-led incident. Traffic is being diverted off and back on again via the junction. Delays building.”
In a separate tweet Hampshire Roads Police said the road closure was likely to remain so for a "prolonged period of time".
The M3 has now been reopened in both directions.
