THE Prime Foundation is giving local causes the opportunity to apply for up to £11,000 in grant funding for projects and initiatives that aim to improve community health and wellbeing.

The Foundation invests in communities where the health and care property developer has built new facilities, ensuring with each build that money is invested locally for good causes. Prime are developing the Park & Ride at Adanac Health and Innovation Campus in Nursling and are now accepting applications from all SO postcodes.

The Foundation will consider projects which match one or more of its aims: advancing education outside the classroom, promoting good physical and mental health and/or furthering the enhancement of social wellbeing through recreation.

The Prime Foundation grants have previously supported good causes. In 2019, Monty’s Bike Hub, who run bike workshops, weekly repair sessions and skills training sessions, received funding to upgrade their workshop and invest in new tools and storage.

Josh Allen told the Daily Echo: “Monty’s Bike Hub has created a safe space for locals to learn new skills, make friends and support the community. Having a purpose-built workshop has made this happen more efficiently and safely.”

In the same year, the Prime Foundation funded a specially adapted bicycle, known as a trishaw, to support Sustrans in helping the elderly in Weston Shore enjoy the great outdoors.

Genna Handley, from Sustrans, said: “The trishaw has had an impact in helping the older generation look for activities, connecting them with communities and the environment which has been so important for their mental health.”

Applications for funding are open from now until June 15.
