A HAMPSHIRE Olympic cycle champion is throwing her support behind a chance for families to ride on a race circuit.

Dani Rowe, from Hamble, said the event at Thruxton is a perfect opportunity to get on two wheels this summer.

The event on July 23 will offer a morning session for serious cyclists to ride the 2.4-mile track.

A more leisurely ride aimed at families is on offer in the afternoon.

Dani, who is an ambassador for Hendy, said it would provide the perfect backdrop for anyone keen to be out on two wheels.

“It’s a great opportunity for serious cyclists to see how many laps they can cover and what a great chance for families to cycle in such a safe environment,” Dani said.

“This event will be a great way for families to introduce children to cycling.”

Dani is a three-time world champion and a London 2012 Olympic gold medalist in the women's team pursuit.

The day will be full of activities and those under the age of 16 will receive a completion certificate.

Entry fees are £15 per person with under-16s free. All proceeds from the cycling will be donated to the Hendy Foundation which supports charities across the south coast.

As well as providing marshals and first aid support, Hendy Foundation will also have a repair company on hand for any emergencies on the day.

Booking is now open at hendyfoundationevents.co.uk
