NHS staff and care workers are set to be given free tickets as the circus comes to Southampton

Taking place at Mayflower Park, Circus Extreme will be offering health staff and carers free tickets to a special preview show this Friday.

In a Covid secure theatre-style big top, the event will run between 5pm and 7.45pm with NHS staff and carers also able to bring one guest each.

The main event will then get underway with shows every day from Friday until Sunday, May 8.

John Haze, director of Circus Extreme said: "We are offering NHS staff and care workers free tickets as a thank you for all their hard work, especially during the last two years.

Daily Echo:

"As well as saving lives they have also indirectly helped to get our industry up and running again and for that, we are forever grateful, Circus Extreme's cast and crew look forward to welcoming the NHS staff and care workers in Southampton and we promise them great entertainment."

Returning to the UK as part of its world tour, the circus show is described as a "one-of-a-kind performance".

The UK was chosen as a location for Circus Extreme due to its "diverse cultural background" and the fact that it is a major centre of the creative industries and the fourth most visited country in the world.

A spokesperson for the circus said: "Merging modern and contemporary styles with extreme stunts and classic clown escapades, audiences will be amazed by the jam-packed Circus Extreme production which features show-stopping performances that will have you on the edge of your seat."

Acts include the Ayala Troupe, who will be performing their award-winning high wire act, the EXTREME freestyle motocross team who will be bringing its "jaw-dropping" stunts to the Big Top, and the EXTREME stunt riding team which will also be performing the Globe of Death.

NHS staff and care workers are asked to call the Box office Manager on 0203 375 3970 to reserve their seats and will have to bring proof of employment when collecting their tickets.

The offer is capped at the first 300 seats.
