Two eateries in Eastleigh have received top food hygiene scores following a recent inspection.

Restaurants, cafes, takeaways, bars and convenience stores are among the businesses routinely inspected by local authorities.

They are given a score, from zero to five, based on hygiene and safety, structural compliance and confidence in management.

A rating of zero, the lowest score, means "urgent improvement necessary" while a rating of five means hygiene standards are "very good".

Ratings are published on the Food Standars Agency website and are available for all to see.

This month, two businesses in Eastleigh received a new score - and it's good news for both.

The Fox & Hounds in Winchester Road, Fair Oak, was handed a five-out-of-five rating after being assessed on April 14.

And Margo's Southern Tea House, in Latham Road, Fair Oak, was also given a score of five on April 21.
