A DEVELOPER has been fined £1,200 over its conversion of a former pub into 10 flats.

Bajar Property Investments, of London Road in Southampton, was prosecuted for breaching a condition in its planning permission relating to cycle storage.

Southampton City Council had granted permission for the conversion at the three-storey building at 10-11 Palmerston Road in January 2018.

But by June 2021 the company had failed to meet the cycle storage condition in relation to lighting and the means of enclosure, court documents show.

Southampton magistrates imposed a £1,200 fine with a £120 victim surcharge.

The company must also pay £535 towards the costs to the council for bringing the case.

In all, Bajar Property Investments Ltd was ordered to pay £1,855.

In its 2017 planning application, the developer said the flats would be for students or professionals.

There was no parking included, but the application said a "secure cycle store is provided within the rear amenity area".

The company admitted a single charge of failing to comply with a breach of condition notice under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990.
