MORE than 150 motorbikes descended on QE2 Activity Centre as part of the Bigfoot Rideout event.

Bikers from Independents Motorcycle Club of Fareham set off from John’s Café on Hayling Island for the River Hamble Country Park at Hedge End.

When they got there, they had the opportunity to do archery, rifle shooting and bushcraft, eat burgers and listen to Southampton Ukulele Jam!

It was all to raise funds for QE2 Activity Centre, a registered charity providing activities for people with disabilities, which is based in the country park.

A total of £1121.09 was raised which will help QE2 Activity Centre continue to provide sessions and day services for people of all ages with additional needs including learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities and sensory impairment.

Member of the Independents, and one of the organisers of the ride out, Gary Sinfield, told the Daily Echo: “We wanted to support QE2 after visiting and seeing the passion and enthusiasm of the staff. This is such a great place for people with additional needs to come and try different activities.

Daily Echo:

“We also want to change people’s perception of bikers. We are looking forward to working with QE2 Activity Centre on more projects in the future.”

Southampton Ukulele Jam performed a rousing set of old standards like Blitzkrieg Bop and Should I Stay or Should I Go.

Centre manager Phil Oates added: “We love it when our community comes together to support us. And our community is very broad, and very diverse, just like the people we serve”.
