
THE ANNIVERSARY of the Falklands war has been marked with a one-night concert in Southampton.
Armed Forces and emergency servicemen and women took to the stage for the British Legion Festival of Remembrance at the Mayflower Theatre on May 1.
Guests were treated to a musical performance produced and performed by the Hampshire Constabulary band.
Tim Russel, Royal British Legion (RBL) county chairman said: "In a packed festival, we celebrate 100 years of the British Legion, the Platinum Jubilee of our Patron, Queen Elizabeth II and commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Falklands war."

The standard-bearer for Hampshire Constabulary described the performance as "absolutely amazing."
He said: "Everyone of you is a credit to this nation.
"I am privileged and proud to have been part of this incredible evening.
"Thank you so much for everything."

There were performances from the Mayflower Youth Theatre and Hampshire choirs.
Claire Smith, the community fundraiser for South Hampshire RBL, said: "It was such a privilege to have our armed forces and emergency servicemen and women take to the stage during a Covid tribute and Falklands 40th Commemoration.
"It was such an emotional and moving evening.

The funds raised from the concert will go towards supporting the Royal British Legion.
In April, veterans took part in a ceremony at Marchwood Military Port to mark forty years since the end of the conflict with Argentina.
