PLANS to turn a hairdressing business back into a house have been given the go-ahead.

New Forest District Council has approved an application relating to a building at New Road, Hythe, that contains The Barbers and Beyond The Fringe.

A council report said it was originally a house that was converted into a commercial property.

It added: "The existing hairdresser's use is not considered to constitute a 'community service' type use which local plan policy (STR8) would seek to retain.

"The loss of the existing employment use, whilst regrettable, would not have adverse economic impacts on the wider town or settlement.

"The arrangement of the building renders it unsuitable for any other realistic and appropriate employment use.

"Proposed physical alterations to the building are minor, with no extension or enlargements proposed.

"The proposal would facilitate the re-absorption of employment floorspace into the original dwellinghouse and is considered acceptable in principle."
