CROWBAR-wielding thieves threatened staff and stole cigarettes and alcohol from a convenience store, say police.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a robbery at Central Convenience Stores on New Road, Swanmore.

At around 5.15am on Saturday, April 30, two men entered the shop shortly after a member of staff had arrived.

One of the men was reportedly carrying a crowbar described as being around 3ft long and the other was carrying a large fluorescent Hippo bag.

The men threatened the member of staff with the crowbar before going behind the counter and snatching cigarettes and alcohol.

They then went into the office and stole cash and the CCTV hard drive.

The duo then fled in a vehicle down New Road.

One of the men has been described as 5ft 8 to 5ft 10 inches tall, slim, with a southern accent and was wearing a black balaclava and brown/sand coloured Air Max 95s.

The second man is described as 6ft 2 to 6ft 3 inches tall, slim, with a southern accent and was wearing under armour and a black balaclava.

A spokesperson from Hampshire Constabulary said: "Officers investigating the incident are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious.

"Were you in the area? Did you see a car driving down New Road at around the time of the incident?

"Do you have any private CCTV that covers New Road?

"Perhaps you were driving in the area and have dash-cam footage?
