POLICE have issued a warning after a person was seen acting strangely.

Officers reported that a resident was driving home using country roads between West End and Hedge End.

They told police about an individual who appeared from the verge, attempting to stop the vehicle by waving at the driver trying to get their attention.

As the car got closer, gradually slowing down, the individual began banging on the window, eventually pulling at the wing mirror causing damage to the car.

A spokesperson from Hedge End Police said: "We are posting about this incident to firstly; make you aware of what happened and secondly, provide some advice on what to do should you find yourselves in a similar situation.

"Nowadays, most if not all modern cars and vans automatically lock the doors when driving above a certain speed, however, should your vehicle not have this feature, then the main piece of advice you can take from this post is to lock your doors during times where you could be at most risk, such as driving through a town centre and rural areas or at night.

"When it comes to locking the boot, we would recommend having the boot locked at all times to prevent anyone trying to open it while you are stationary."
