The Audi driver involved in the fatal crash on Bitterne Road West is "helping us with our enquiries", police have confirmed.

Clare Munn was killed after being hit by a car while crossing the dual carriageway on the evening of May 2.

Tributes to the 45-year-old Southampton resident have been flooding in on social media since news of her death was revealed.

An inquest into her death is yet to be opened.

Today, officers investigating the crash by the junction with Rampart Road have confirmed that the victim was indeed Ms Munn, of Ellwood Avenue, Southampton.

In a statement, officers also confirmed that the driver of the Audi A4 which was involved in the crash is helping them with their investigation.

Anyone with information is urged to come forward.

A spokesperson from Hampshire Constabulary said: "We are now in a position to confirm the name of the woman who died following a collision in Southampton.

"Clare Munn, 45, of Ellwood Avenue, Southampton, was crossing the dual carriageway on Bitterne Road West, on May 2, when she was in collision with a car.

"Investigations into the exact circumstances of the collision are ongoing and the driver of the Audi 4 is helping us with our enquiries.

"The collision happened at the road’s junction with Rampart Road at around 10pm that evening.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 44220172280.
