A TINY flat that is so small the bedroom doubles up as a kitchen is available to rent for £450 per month.

The self-described "petite" studio flat in Cranbury Terrace makes the most of its limited space.

But online users have been left baffled by the listing, comparing it to a prison cell.

One person wrote: “Go out and commit a crime and you'll get a room exactly like it, with catered meals and a uniformed concierge, for free.”

Another said: “I paid less than that to rent a two-bed house in Staffordshire.”

Although it may be compact, the shoebox apartment packs a punch as it boasts a private, en-suite shower room that is modern in its design.

The apartment also has an ‘Elphin’ kitchen with two hobs and a microwave, situated below the sink.

However, this property may be better suited to a Hobbit due to its size.

Remarkably, no items such as a fridge or a washing machine are seen in the listing.

But that's not to say they aren't there.

The key feature of the property is its close proximity to the town centre and other amenities.

The bustling hub of the city centre and the array of shops are only a stone’s throw away.

Rail travel is easily accessible from this property, with St Denys station only 0.7 miles away and Southampton Central 0.8 miles.

To make the deal sweeter, the electric and water bills are included in the price.

However, parking is not available.

According to Zoopla, the average UK property has risen by £29,000 in value since March 2020.

This means more people may be looking down the route of renting rather than buying, regardless of the property's size.
