DRIVERS are being warned about roadworks that are due to take place in Southampton later this month.

Southampton City Council has announced that a carriageway repair project will be carried out at the junction of Threefield Lane and Bernard Street from May 23.

For two days the eastbound lane of Bernard Street will be closed between 9.30am and 3.30pm.

A signed diversion route will be in place and motorists are being urged to plan their journey.

The city council has also published details of other roadworks due to be carried out in the next few weeks.

Shaftesbury Avenue is due to be closed between its junctions with Highfield Crescent and Holyrood Avenue from June 6 (8pm-6am) to enable a manhole cover to be repaired. The works are due to be completed by June 8.

Western Esplanade is due to be closed between its junctions with Harbour Parade and Pirelli Street from June 13 (8pm-6am) to enable a footbridge to be repaired.

The works are due to be completed by June 15.
