EMERGENCY services rushed to a New Forest village after a baby girl stopped breathing.

But as paramedics worked to save the one-year-old, impatients motorists sounded their horns.

PC Carl Perverill was one of the first on the scene yesterday afternoon (May 19) following reports that a baby had stopped breathing in Lyndhurst High Street.

Thanks to the excellent work of the villages’ first responders and the ambulance service, the young girl has now been discharged from hospital and is back home with her parents.

Police are urging motorists to "always be patient" in an emergency after some "felt it necessary" to sound their horns at paramedics.

A spokesperson from New Forest Heart Police said on Facebook: "It’s a shame that while the emergency services were looking after the child some motorists felt it necessary to impatiently sound their horns because they couldn’t get past the ambulance. Please always be patient in an emergency."
