POLICE are working "really hard" to catch two men who tried to kidnap a two-year-old girl in Ringwood.

The toddler was with her mum when two men approached them on The Mount, showing an interest in their dog.

One of them picked up the girl and ran with her towards a nearby housing estate, according to police.

The child was let go after the dog bit the man on his leg.

Police have said they are working "really hard" to find out the exact circumstances of the attempted kidnap, which happened between 10.40am and 10.50am on May 11.

A spokesperson said: "Officers are continuing to work really hard and following up on all available lines of enquiry to ascertain the exact circumstances of what happened.

"We have conducted a thorough review of local CCTV and doorbell camera footage.

"Officers have made enquires with other neighbouring forces to review if any similar incidents have been reported. No connection has been made at this time and as such, this remains an isolated incident."
