SOUTHAMPTON and the surrounding areas are set to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in style next month.

Street parties are being held across the city and in nearby villages and towns, including Eastleigh, Botley, and Hedge End, to name a few.

The festivities, held in honour of Her Majesty’s 70 years on the throne, will take place from Thursday, June 2 to Sunday, June 5.

In the Southampton City Council area alone there will be 60 road closures across the weekend, with many expected in other areas too.

With that in mind, here are just a handful of street parties taking place.

Platinum Jubilee Street Parties - Southampton

St Christopher’s Church, Thornhill – June 5

Join St Christopher’s Church for an afternoon picnic full of fun.

Weather permitting, enjoy a quiz, entertainment from the Salty Sea Dogs, games and more music from midday.

Attendees are advised to bring their own chair or blanket.

Townhill Park Community Centre, Meggeson Avenue – June 5

Celebrate 70 years on the throne at this community party jam-packed full of games, activities and light refreshments.

This event is free and open to all. Festivities start at 4pm and run until 6pm.

Platinum Jubilee Street Parties – Eastleigh and elsewhere

Hatch Grange, West End – June 2

A plethora of activities are taking place at this event in West End.

From a themed photobooth to games including a coconut shy and tombola, there is plenty for you to choose from.

An array of food and drink will also be available.

This includes a tuck shop, ice cream van, candy floss stall, barbecue food and hot and cold drinks.

The fun begins at 6pm and all proceeds will go to a local charity.

Pavilion on the Park, Eastleigh – June 3

From 12pm to 3pm you can enjoy live performances from local artists, art exhibitions, an interactive, royal-themed trail, fancy dress competitions, raffles and much, much more.

High Street, Eastleigh – June 4

From 11am to 3pm this central street party will offer free food and drink, host balloonists, face painters, stilt walkers, and more.

Southern Parishes Conservative Club, Hedge End – June 3

Live music, family entertainment, market stalls and food and drink can be enjoyed at this fitting celebration.

This is a pre-book-only event so all tickets must be bought in advance.

High Street Recreation Ground, Botley – June 4

Aptly named Revels on the Rec, attendees can marvel at fireworks, participate in Zumba and sip beer from the on-site beer tent.

Bands will be performing throughout the day and youngsters can have their face-painted and enjoy the inflatable slide.

This party will run from 2pm to 10.15pm.
