A SOUTHAMPTON home that cares for people with alcohol and substance dependency has been praised by watchdogs.

Linden House on Station Road has been rated good by the CQC in a recent inspection.

The home, run by The Society of St James, cares for up to 23 people including older people, people with physical and mental health needs, and those with alcohol and substance dependency.

The inspection found that the home was safe, well-led, effective, caring and responsive.

One person's relative said: "I can't praise the staff enough with their care, dedication, and hard work they put into making the residents safe and giving them much-needed support."

The inspection highlighted that residents were safe and protected from avoidable harm and abuse.

The provider had processes to manage people's medicines safely, and had put in a variety of infection control measures in response to the pandemic.

People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives, and staff supported them in the "least restrictive way possible and in their best interests".
