Day Out With Thomas, The Watercress Line, Saturday and Sunday

SS Shieldhall, Trips on Saturday and Sunday

The largest working steamship in Britain will set sail for its summer season this weekend. 

Volunteers have been working hard behind the scenes preparing Steamship Shieldhall for her first cruises of the season over the weekend on Saturday and Sunday and they can’t wait to welcome guests back on board!

Saturday sees the first of Shieldhall’s popular Steam to the Solent cruises from 3.30pm to 7pm to coincide with the departure of the mighty cruise ships which will be passed at close quarters.

On Sunday, the Aphrodites Singers will perform songs from the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Doris Day and Vera Lynn, as Shieldhall heads back to the 30s, 40s and 50s.

Scarecrows in Spring, Manor Farm, from Saturday

Play Scarecrow Bingo on the trail, compete in the Scarecrow Olympics, join storytime sessions, then plant a sunflower to take home and grow! 

This May half term is all about scarecrows as Manor Farm launches Scarecrows in Spring, which runs from Saturday May 28 to Sunday June 5.

Enjoy a great family day out at the traditional farm in Bursledon. 

There are plenty of friendly animals to meet including cows, sheep, goats, donkeys, rabbits, guinea pigs and alpacas.

Explore the traditional farm buildings and vehicles and run free in the farm-themed indoor and outdoor play areas.

Waitress, Mayflower Theatre, until Saturday

Former Busted star Matt Willis and Chelsea Halfpenny (9 to 5, BBC's Casualty, ITV's Emmerdale) are starring in the hit musical comedy Waitress until Saturday night. 

Meet Jenna, a waitress and expert pie-maker who dreams of some happiness in her life. When a hot new doctor arrives in town, life gets complicated. With the support of her workmates Becky and Dawn, Jenna overcomes the challenges she faces and finds that laughter, love and friendship can provide the perfect recipe for happiness.

The show features a great score by the Grammy award-winning Sara Bareilles (Love Song, Brave) a book by acclaimed screenwriter Jessie Nelson (I Am Sam) and direction by Tony Award-winner Diane Paulus (Pippin, Finding Neverland).

May half term at Beaulieu
