VACANT floors at an office building could become five new homes should plans be approved by civic chiefs.

Plans have been submitted to Southampton City Council in a bid to turn former offices on the first and second floor on Westwood Road into five new flats.

This would include two studio flats, two one-bed flats, and one two-bed flat.

The ground floor, occupied by Ae Insurance Brokers, will not be affected.

The plans, submitted by Mr Kevan Netherwood of the Clydesdale Group, state that the floors have been vacant for "at least three months".

The six existing on-site parking spaces would be allocated to the new homes.

Each one-bed unit is set to have one space and the two-bed unit will be allocated two parking spaces.

The applicant said that vehicle movement "at worst" will be "similar to what it was when the offices were in use.

A decision on the plans is yet to be made by the council.
