TWO SOUTHAMPTON men have been arrested after a burglary at a New Forest ice cream factory.

New Forest Ice Cream on Ampress Road in Lymington was raided at just before 11pm last night.

Police raced to the scene after an alarm was activated.

They found a section of fencing had been damaged – where three containers were forced open - and the property had been searched.

A few hours later, officers who were out on routine patrol, spotted three people riding bicycles up Clay Hill on the A337 towards Lyndhurst – matching the description seen on CCTV near the scene of the burglary.

However, the trio are said to have dumped the bicycles and fled on foot.

Officers searched the area and found a man and teenage boy a short distance from the scene.

A 19-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy, both from Southampton, were arrested on suspicion of burglary, theft of a motor vehicle and theft of a pedal cycle.

The duo, who remain in police custody at this time, were also arrested in connection with a vehicle theft in Inkerman Road, Southampton on Monday night.
