A DRINK driver who failed to stop for police was already banned from the roads.

Kieran Fay failed to stop for police on April 4 while driving a Honda Civic on Lyndhurst Road in Hilton.

The 36-year-old was found to have 71 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeding the legal limit of 35 microgrammes.

Fay had previously been disqualified from driving and had no insurance at the time of the offence.

Appearing at Southampton Magistrates' Court, he admitted one charge of drink driving,  failing to stop for police, driving while disqualified, and driving without insurance.

Fay, of Romsey Road, Winchester, was disqualified from driving for three years and was ordered to carry out 250 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months.

He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £95 and court costs of £85.
