TWO women have been attacked, and one had her engagement ring stolen, by a gang of knife-wielding men in balaclavas.

A woman in her 50s and one in her 20s were robbed while walking to their car on Crown Street, near the junction with Shirley High Street.

They were approached by five men wearing black clothes, gloves and balaclavas.

One of them was holding a knife.

They went on to threaten the women and assault them, leaving them with minor injuries.

A large amount of jewellery and one of the women’s engagement rings.

The incident happened between 12.05am and 12.15am on Wednesday, May 25.

DC Giulia Puccini, who is leading the investigation, said: "Our officers are following up all lines of enquiry to identify the men involved.

"While we continue to investigate this we would urge members of the public to make sure they do not display their valuables and remain vigilant at night in the Shirley area.”

"Do you know who the men are?
