A PLASTIC surgeon has denied downloading more than 100 indecent images of children.

Mansoor Khan worked at University Hospital Southampton until October last year but was suspended after the allegations emerged.

The 53-year-old has been charged with three counts of making indecent images of children following an investigation by the National Crime Agency.

An NCA spokesman said the images do not relate to any of his patients and a spokesperson from University Hospital Southampton said none of the charges relate to  clinical work at the hospital.

Appearing before Salisbury Magistrates’ Court on Friday, Khan pleaded not guilty to making indecent images between December 10, 2020, and August 24, 2021.

These include 31 category A images - ranked as the most serious - 14 category B and 61 category C.

Khan, of Ridgeway Road, Salisbury, specialises in reconstructive surgery, breast surgery, body contouring and 'facial rejuvenation'.

He worked at University Hospital Southampton between 2012 and October 2021.

He also took up a post in 2008 as a consultant at the Wessex Regional Plastic Surgery Unit in Salisbury District Hospital.

Following today’s plea, he will next appear at Salisbury Crown Court on June 24.

During this time Khan must declare all his electronic devices to the NCA, and provide devices if requested.

Original bail conditions prohibited Khan from being near children, including his own, or in sites children are likely to be, which the defence said was having “serious effects on the mental health of his children”.

Khan graduated from Aberdeen University in 1995 and has undertaken 12 years of training in plastic surgery.

He also completed extensive research at Imperial College and obtained his medical degree in 2003.

Dr Peter Collins, chief medical officer at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust, previously said: "The trust has fully supported the National Crime Agency investigation and recognises the seriousness of the charges against Mr Khan.

"If any of our patients or their parents and guardians who have been treated by Mr Khan at Salisbury Hospital have any concerns we would encourage them to contact our Patient Advocacy and Liaison Service (PALS) for support."

Dr Collins added: "Patients awaiting treatment by Mr Khan will be transferred to an alternative surgeon at the hospital and will be directly notified by the team."
