A SOUTHAMPTON shop is getting the city ready for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee by selling celebratory British flags, bunting, confetti and hats.

Southampton Firework Factory on Shirley High Street is selling a variety of royal jubilee merchandise in the lead-up to the four-day weekend.

Staff members, Terag Bhatti and Sheila Singh, plan on setting up stalls in Bitterne, Southampton city centre, and outside their shop in Shirley.

Celebrations to mark the Queen's 70-year reign will get underway across the country tomorrow.

Millions are set to celebrate by hosting street parties, picnics and lunches.

Speaking at their stall in Shirley, the pair said: "We found out that no one was really selling bunting or other jubilee decorations, so we started to sell in the markets.

"It's been so nice. The stories people have told us about the previous jubilees. One person told us about the one in 1977."

Terag's four-year-old son Jaiden was also “excited” for the upcoming jubilee parties.
