A CRASH has forced police to close a lane of the M3 on the first day of the Platinum Jubilee bank holiday.

Hampshire police Inspector Matt Moss, based in the force's control room, said there are no injuries but a closure is in place.

The crash happened northbound at Junction 12 for the Allbrook Interchange.

He said: "Good morning from the Police Control Room - it's Inspector Matt Moss with an update if you are finding the M3 is busy around J12.

"We are currently dealing with an accident on the (northbound) stretch of the road - fortunately, there are currently no reports of serious injuries.

"We have had to put a lane one closure in place whilst we deal with the collision and the clear up, however we hope to be able to get the road fully reopened as soon as possible.

"Please remain patient if you are in the queue to get past the scene - the traffic is flowing albeit slowly."
