A SOUTHAMPTON film company is looking for residents so it can produce a documentary about the city's trams.

Solent MovieMakers is planning to film a documentary about the Southampton trams.

It is searching for people who worked and travelled on the network.

Interviewees could potentially feature in the historical production.

The documentary team is also looking for old photographs or memorabilia to be presented in the film.

Southampton’s trams were in use from 1879 to 1949, unique to the city, they were fitted with rounded tops to fit through the archway of the Bargate.

However, the network shut down after World War Two in favour of buses.

Last year the city council considered reinstating the tram system to cut congestion.

The film is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

For more information or to get involved with the project, contact the film director, Howard Blake on 07878 122116 or by email at howardblake712@hotmail.com.
