FROM baking pizzas in his garden oven to being offered a restaurant residency - a Bitterne man is getting a slice of the action.
Former chef Jamie Mogridge-Percy was gifted a pizza oven from his wife during lockdown, inspiring him to create his own business.
For two years Jamie has been wowing the Southampton community with his mouth-watering creations and is about to embark on a new adventure at restaurant Belgium and Blues.
He said: “I went to Italy for my honeymoon and my passion for making pizza grew from that experience.
“After my wife bought me my pizza oven, I started making pizzas in my garden and set up my own business, Arty-Stan Pizza.
“During lockdown, I offered timeslots for my pizzas and on Fridays, they would be booked for up to three months.
“I then started doing pop-ups and more recently Jack from Belgium and Blues offered me to work in their kitchen for a year from August 1.”
Jamie hopes this residency will help get his name and pizzas out there but his back garden is always on stand-by.
He said: “Catering and hospitality are really vulnerable, but I can still operate from my back garden.
“I am a people person and am very customer focused. It’s all about the process, everything is handmade.
“We add little touches to the pizzas and people understand what it is we are trying to do.
“We are also very family orientated. I have a young family and Arty-Stan has that family feeling to it.
“People can see where I have come from and what this has developed into.”
