TRAVELLERS have set up camp at a Southampton park

There are 24 caravans have been seen parked on Mansel Park in the Millbrook area of the city.

Police have said they are aware of the unauthorized encampment and have been liaising with the council.

According to the local authority, the occupants have been told to leave the park within the next 24 hours.

If they fail to leave, legal action will be taken.

Conservative Councillor for the Redbridge ward, Amanda Guest, said: “Welfare checks have been carried out and are satisfactory.

"It appears the group are passing through and most likely to move on by the end of the week.”

The councillor also said she will be lobbying the council to put in a preventative barrier by the footpath of Evenlode Road to prevent similar incursions.
