POLICE have been using special powers to crack down on anti-social behaviour in a Hampshire town.

A dispersal order has been issued following an increase in ASB in Ringwood and the surrounding areas.

The order came into place at around 9.15pm on Friday and will remain in place until 'late tonight'.

Police can order people to leave the area and arrest them if they refuse to.

According to the county force, the powers will be reviewed and extended if appropriate to do so.

A police spokesperson said: "Please continue to report anti-social behaviour in the Ringwood area to allow us to take positive action, and enable dispersal orders like this to be authorised in order to help tackle these issues.

"Anti-social behaviour and relevant information can be shared with us via 101, reported on our website, or by calling Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. As always, please call 999 in an emergency."
