THE city's library is shut for essential building work and improvements.
Southampton’s Central Library closure started today and it will not reopen until Saturday at 10am.
A tweet from Southampton City Council said: "A reminder that Central Library will close temporarily from Monday 27 June to Friday 1 July inclusive for internal improvements and essential building works.
"The library will re-open on Saturday 2 July at 10am."
The nearest open library to Central Libary is in Shirley, just more than a mile away.
