THE CRAZY golf course at a popular leisure centre has reopened following a major makeover.

The course at Romsey Rapids was closed to the public in May for an ace transformation.

After being given a lick of paint, all the playing surfaces were replaced with synthetic grass, the edging was replaced, and the fencing surrounding the course was protected to protect users from “rogue” cricket balls from a neighbouring pitch.

Funded by Places Leisure and Test Valley Borough Council (TVBC), the centre’s manager says the course is an “improved facility.”

Matt Low, general manager at Romsey Rapids, said: "This is another good example of partnership working between Places Leisure and TVBC, which has resulted in a much improved facility for the community to enjoy.

“Crazy golf is a popular family activity, suitable for all ages and abilities.

“The course really complements the family swimming programme at the Rapids and offers families the best part of a day out having fun and being active at an affordable rate."

Councillor David Drew, portfolio holder for leisure, added: “Romsey Rapids hosts a range of affordable activities that the whole family can enjoy.

“A number of people had contacted me to say that the crazy golf course wasn’t looking its best and could do with a bit of a refresh.

“We took that feedback on board and made sure we pushed through the work as quickly as possible, so the site would be up and running again ready for the summer.

“With the rising cost of living, families are looking for fun and affordable activities, and a spot of crazy golf offers exactly that.

“I would like to thank everyone involved in the project for all their hard work to turn this around so quickly.”

The course reopened on June 11 and customers can book in advance on the Places Leisure website or pay on the day at the main reception at Romsey Rapids.
