A POLICE officer has been charged with sexual assault following an incident in a Hampshire village earlier this year.

Liam Porter, 40, is accused of sexually assaulting a female while on duty.

The offence allegedly took place in Clanfield on January 18. 

He will appear before Basingstoke Magistrates Court on Tuesday July 12.

The officer is currently suspended from duty.
