MORE than 35 firefighters have tackled a property fire in Eastleigh - with police now guarding the property.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service was called to the terraced property at Barton Road at 5.51pm on Monday.

Crews from three different stations were called to help deal with the fire. 

They were from Eastleigh, St Mary's, and Redbridge.

A spokesperson for the fire service has said that no casualties have been reported. 

Both Barton Road and Chickenhall Lane were closed. 

On Monday night police were guarding the scene. An investigation into what started the fire is due to begin. 

A fire service tweet said: "Crews from @Eastleigh32, @StMarys54 and @Redbridge53 are currently dealing with a property fire on Barton Road, Eastleigh. 

"Both Barton Road & Chickenhall Lane are closed so please avoid the area to allow access for emergency services vehicles.
