A SOUTHAMPTON man who stole from a Co-op store and assaulted two people has been jailed. 

Paul James stole five items from Co-op on Spring Road worth £17.45 on January 10. 

The 31-year-old assaulted two people on the same road. 

Appearing at Southampton Magistrates' Court, he admitted one charge of theft, one charge of assault by beating and one charge of common assault. 

James, of International Way, Southampton, was jailed for a total of 12 weeks.
