A MAN has been arrested following a stabbing in Southampton city centre.

London Road was taped off for much of Wednesday after a man in his 30s was attacked outside the Tesco store. 

He was raced to hospital, where he remains, with serious injuries at around 10.30am.

Officers were later called to an address in Parsonage Road following reports of a concern for welfare incident.

At 10.30pm, they arrested a 31-year-old from Southampton, on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent in connection with the stabbing earlier in the day. 

The arrested man remains in police custody at this time and enquiries continue.
