While he country tries its best to stay cool, the Echo looks back at more pictures from 1983 – the same year as another epic heatwave.
On July 15, the country embraced the glorious weather as the mercury reached 33 °C in London.
In fact, July was the hottest month on record until it was beaten in 2006.
The heatwave came just months after a meteorological phenomenon occurred – red rain fell!
On January 26, people were horrified to see red droplets falling from the skies. But, it was harmless and was actually caused by sand from the Sahara Desert in the rain.
