"THE weather here is crazy in Southampton."

These are the words of a student from Morocco who is studying in the city.

As the temperature soared to 32C in Southampton, some people were out in the parks - mostly in the shade of trees - to make the most of the heat.

Abdesslam Nacerallah, 26, and Mohamed Ouarzi, 20, both from Morocco, were relaxing in Watts park.

They say the temperatures here are similar to back home, but it is harder to deal with here.

Mohamed said: "I like it here in Southampton. It's very clean. But the weather is crazy. You have four seasons.

"In my country, it's six months hot, six months cold. We don't have this crazy weather - raining one minute, hot the next."

Daily Echo:

Abdesslam added: "It's 33C here but it's 33C in Morocco too. But here's it's not as nice as it's more dry."

Ewerton Carmigo, 25, was taking his dog for a walk in Watts Park before starting his work shift.

He said: "I like the heat. I'm from Brazil. I'm used to the heat. But we had to buy a fan because inside our house is really hot."

Daily Echo:

Elsewhere in the country, the temperature has exceeded 40C for the first time in the UK on record.

The heat is expected to break after today, with highs of 23C Wednesday.

Tomorrow afternoon there is a chance of thunderstorms and heavy rain in some parts of Hampshire, according to the Met Office.

The weather service has issued a yellow weather warning covering 1pm to 9pm on Wednesday.

Hampshire County Council warns there is a chance of disruption, with delays and cancellations to trains and buses, and a "slight chance" of power cuts.
