THE sunshine looks set to continue this weekend as fairs and family fun events take place across Hampshire.

Here's our pick of five of the best.

Netley Marsh Steam and Craft Show, all weekend

Daily Echo:

One of Hampshire's biggest summer shows is set to celebrate its 50th anniversary 12 months late after two years of Covid cancellations.

The Netley Marsh Steam and Craft Show will be staged this weekend, with thousands expected to flock to the three-day spectacular at Meadowead Farm.

More than 12,000 spectators attended the 2019 event, which raised almost £20,000 for charities and other good causes in the area.

The 2020 and 2021 shows were scrapped as a result of the pandemic, along with countless other events in towns and cities across the Uk.

Now organisers are steaming ahead with plans to stage the event's golden jubilee from later today.

This year, there will be a fantastic display of all things vintage, including tractors, steam engines, trucks, cars and motorcycles with daily parades.

The event will also include arena entertainment from The Tigers motorcycle display team, plus jousting performed by Horsemen of the Knight.

Rock The Train, Hythe Pier Railway

Daily Echo:

Celebrationsn on Saturday will mark the centenary of the little electric train that has made thousands of journeys along historic Hythe Pier.

Described as the oldest operating pier train in the world, it takes passengers to and from the ferry that operates from the end of the 700-yard jetty.

Passengers have included King George VI, who visited the area ahead of the D-Day landings in 1944.

Now members of Hythe Pier Heritage Association (HPHA) have drawn up plans to mark the line's century of service to people travelling to Southampton and back.

This year's Rock the Pier music festival will be renamed Rock the Train to mark the line's contribution to the area.

Daily Echo:

Earth, Wind and Fire featuring Al McKay will headline the Smoked & Uncut festival in the New Forest this weekend.

The event, at Lime Wood on Saturday, returns after a two year Covid enforced hiatus.

Expect laid back classic tunes, a bundle of bars, field food and feasting - with a few of The Pig and Lime Wood's renowned chefs.

He has played with the likes of Ike & Tina Turner and Sammy Davis Jnr. Further classics include Heed The Message, Try Meditation and Love is the Calling.

The festivals will feature a feasting menu with celebrity chef Angela Hartnett and her chef friends as well as a host of other food offerings.

School of Rock, Mayflower Theatre, until Saturday night

Daily Echo:

Get ready to stick it to the man Southampton, because Andrew Lloyd Webber’s West End and Broadway hit musical School of Rock is rocking Mayflower Theatre until Saturday night.

School of Rock is the global hit musical based on the iconic movie starring Jack Black. Wannabe rock star Dewey Finn is cast out by his dive-bar bandmates and finds himself in desperate need of cash. Posing as a substitute music teacher at an elite prep school, he exposes his students to the rock gods he idolises, transforming them into a mind-blowing rock band. While teaching these pint-sized prodigies what it means to truly rock out, Dewey falls for the school’s beautiful, but uptight headmistress, Miss Mullins, helping her rediscover the wild child within. But, will they all find redemption at the battle of the bands?

It features 14 new songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber, all the original songs from the movie, and a band of insanely talented kids that play live every show.
