PLANS for a new 5G mast in a Southampton street have been approved.
An application was submitted to Southampton City Council by Hutchison 3G UK Ltd seeking permission to build a 17m high 5G mast on Bassett Green Road.
The application has now been approved which will see the mast built on the land next to Bonchurch Close.
The application was not opposed by Simon Reynier of the City of Southampton Society.
In an open letter to the council, he said: "We note that the proposed siting of the telecommunications mast is on the northern side of Bassett Green Road.
"As such it does not impact on any buildings in the Conservation Area to the south of the road."
