A ROLLER disco is set to land in Southampton in time for summer.

Residents and city visitors are invited to pull on their skates and hit the dancefloor for the first-ever roller disco on The Esplanade at Westquay.

The event will run from August 15 to September 4 and is open to visitors of all ages and abilities, from roller rookies to roller pros.

The rink will be covered and will feature glitter balls, bright lights and giant props to give the ultimate retro disco feel.

On Friday and Saturday nights, skaters can pick up a set of LED headphones and enjoy a Silent Roller Disco with three music channels to select from including 80’s classics and a live DJ.

Laura Read, Westquay general manager said “We’re really excited to be putting on our first ever Roller Disco this summer holiday.

"We are always looking for new and exciting events that will appeal to our visitors and look forward to seeing people enjoy a disco on wheels and this may not be the only rink customers will see this year too."

Visitors are advised to pre-book online to avoid disappointment.

The roller disco forms part of a jam-packed outdoor summer events programme at Westquay.

The 'Summer of Sport' kicked off the season with its big screen on the Esplanade where visitors can dine alfresco and watch Wimbledon, The UEFA Women’s Euros and the Commonwealth Games for free.

As well as this, the Hares of Hampshire will continue to run until the end of August.
