POLICE have disrupted car meets in the Fareham area after receiving complaints about dangerous driving and anti-social behaviour.

Posting on social media, Fareham police said gatherings had taken place at various locations in the district, including Segensworth, Whiteley and Titchfield.

They added: "You have made us aware of these large car ‘meets’, and the problems which are caused as a result, namely car races, dangerous driving etc.

"As a result of this information, the Fareham Neighbourhood Team, with the assistance of our colleagues in the Roads Policing Unit and the Fareham Response Team, have disrupted these groups at various locations across our district.

"We disrupted groups, dispersed the persons and vehicles involved, while educating drivers, issuing a number of fines, and also issuing warning notices relating to Section 59 of the Police Reform Act."

Car meets have also taken place at other locations in the past few months, including Calmore and Nursling.
