A MAN has been charged with sexual assault and shoplifting after a woman was attacked at a petrol station.
Police received a report of an incident at around 9pm on July 27 at a petrol station in Northam Road.
A man stole items and sexually assaulted a woman in her 20s over her clothing.
Then, at 11.30pm the same day, another woman in her 20s was also sexually assaulted over her clothing in Northam Road by a man who then tried to follow her into her flat.
Sean Prendergast, 38, of Orchard Lane, Southampton, was charged with two counts of sexual assault on a female and two counts of theft from a shop.
He was remanded to appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court today where he was released on bail with conditions to appear at Southampton Crown Court on September 2.
